Code of Conduct

Filmclub Maastricht is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members. This Code of Conduct outlines the expected behavior and guidelines for participation in our events and community.

• We are committed to creating a space free from harassment, bullying, or any behavior that makes others feel uncomfortable or vulnerable.
• Everyone has the right to be treated with respect, fairness, and courtesy, and to be heard without fear of intimidation or discrimination.
• We stand against any form of harassment based on race, gender, sexuality, disability, or any other characteristic.
• If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior, we encourage you to speak up and ensure it is addressed.

• We all have a responsibility to challenge offensive behavior directed towards ourselves or others.
• If you observe such behavior, bring it to the attention of the appropriate person (organizer or representative).
• Support anyone who is considering making a complaint and ensure they feel heard and empowered.

• Filmclub Maastricht is a community-driven initiative. We encourage active participation, whether through event organization, discussions, or other contributions.
• Volunteers and organizers work hard to ensure the club operates smoothly. Please respect their efforts and help create a positive environment.
• Share your love of film! Engage in thoughtful discussions, recommend films, and support other members of the community.

• Discussions about films are encouraged, but we expect all members to engage respectfully. Constructive criticism is welcome, but personal attacks or aggressive behavior are not.
• We recognize that films can evoke strong emotions. If a conversation is becoming heated, please take a step back, allow time for reflection, and approach the conversation with an open mind.

• If events take place in venues where alcohol is served, please consume responsibly. We promote a friendly, non-disruptive atmosphere.
• Reckless or disruptive behavior due to alcohol or other substances will not be tolerated. All members are expected to remain respectful and considerate toward others.

• Since Filmclub Maastricht hosts events in third-party locations, it is essential to respect the rules and property of these venues. Please treat the space with care and follow any venue-specific guidelines.
• Leave the space as you found it. Dispose of waste appropriately and clean up after yourself.

• Always ask for permission before taking photos or videos at our events. Respect people's privacy and do not post images or content that individuals may not wish to be shared publicly.
• When sharing content from events on social media, be mindful of others' comfort levels. Tag Filmclub Maastricht and use the appropriate event hashtags when possible.

• Don't share personal information about other members without their consent. Respect everyone's privacy both online and offline.
• When attending events, please be aware that the club may collect personal information (such as email addresses) to facilitate communication and event organization. This information is kept confidential.

• We strive to make our events accessible to all. If you have specific needs regarding accessibility (e.g., mobility or visual/hearing impairments), please reach out to us, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
• When organizing events, we aim to choose venues that are accessible, but please let us know if you have any concerns or requests.

• Filmclub Maastricht is a community organization, and your feedback is valuable. If you have suggestions or concerns about our events or the overall experience, please feel free to share them with us.
• We welcome feedback and encourage you to help us improve. We believe that collective input is key to our success.

• If you want to report an issue regarding the topics in this Code of Conduct but feel no one in your surrounding environment or organizing team is listening, or you do not feel comfortable reporting the issue, you are advised to send us an anonymous email at hey@filmclubmaastricht.com.
